It’s Christmas! There must be some kind of retail arms race every year to see who can get their decorations up first. Has Halloween become the new start of the Christmas season? Outside leaves are still falling from the trees, but inside it’s all yuletide and ringing of the (cash register) bells. I mean, I love the winter holidays, but I’d like to enjoy at least some autumn first!

Oy. This is what we have been expecting for some time, the encroachment of Christmas into the pre-Thanksgiving period. And really, it’s annoying. Soon there will be a real excuse for those people who leave their icicle lights up year round. In fact, this evening when I came home, I noted that someone actually has their Christmas lights up already in my neighborhood. Ugh.

Purty. I know! I went to get Halloween candy on Halloween and the holiday section of my grocery store was already in Christmas mode.

And that obnoxious Bill O’Reilly has the temerity to say that we liberals are trying to do away with Christmas. I mean, who is more into Christmas than Nordstrom-shopping gay guys?

Hang on, I haven’t had *anything* pumpkin yet!

I can assure you the true beginning of the Christmas season occurs after I’ve finished my third bagel with pumpkin cream cheese. Not a second before!

Seeing that photo reminded me of my first trip to Washington D.C. I stopped at that shopping center and purchased 2 beautiful blown glass ornaments that I still have, almost ten years later. Thanks for posting the photo.
