Work? What’s that?

For once, a corporate e-mail I’m happy to receive: I just got one announcing that our company is giving us additional paid holidays, Dec. 24 and 31. For once, a corporate e-mail I’m happy to receive: I just got one announcing that our company is giving us additional paid holidays, Dec. 24 and 31. So in addition to the current holiday schedule (Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1-2), I can redistribute my remaining vacation time–our leave doesn’t rollover from one year to the next, so I have to use it or lose it each year–which means two whole weeks out of the office. It’s like a school vacation. My last workday of this year will be Thursday, Dec. 18!

Rock on!

You bloody lucky devil, you… I get just the obligatory governmental 5 days off incl w/end, so back on the 29th. Have fun, Prince Rebelle. Are you going away for Crimble? Any chance you could bring back some of your Mum’s cooking for the rest of us?

🙂 Hugs Nate

Sigh. And here I was feeling good because it was announced earlier this week that the federal government would get two days of paid leave at Christmas instead of just the one we were originally scheduled to get (not sure which agency gives Natey five days including the weekend; we only get Christmas Day and the day after, for a total of four days including the weekend). I’ll take an additional day of my own annual leave for Christmas Eve, but can’t afford to take any more over the holidays; even so, I won’t have enough leave for a full week off until well into the second quarter of next year.

I know, it’s an embarrassment of vacation-time riches. Our office becomes a ghost town come the end of the year. (Thom: Natey’s a Canadian, by the way. Different government.)
