I changed the main font to Lucida, mostly because the upper-case Js descend below the baseline. (Much like certain numerals for Georgia, which I use for the date headers.) I like that. The Qs are pretty, too. I’ll give it a few days, and see if the font grows on me.
Other administrivia: does anyone use the XML feed for this site? Is it working? I suppose I get the concept, but I admit to some ignorance of how it all functions technically. The syndication link is in the sidebar only because it came with the template and I figured I’d keep it, just in case it was doing some good, unbeknownst to me; otherwise, I’ll take it off and do my homework.
While we’re at it, any other suggestions are welcome. Like, does the format of the archive page work for you? Do you ever use the monthly archives (in addition to the daily ones)? Is everything displaying reasonably well in your browser?
Seriously, bring it on.

I’m honored to be able to celebrate the moments of your website with delicious flavored coffees from General Mills.
I use the XML feed to see if you’ve updated the site – I too have one that came with the thing and have no clue how to customize it, but… it works.
Lucida seems to be smaller than whatever you were using before (Trebuchet?) I wonder what it looks like to those not using a Mac, which is, I gather, the only place Lucida exists?
I couldn’t live without the XML feed. Because I’m that lazy.
Oh, cool. Anything beyond basic design is new-fangled wizardry to me, so I’m glad people are using the feed.
Gene, the previous font was Verdana. In the stylesheet, I’ve specified Lucida Grande and Lucida Sans Unicode (for Mac and Windows, respectively). And I threw in plain old Lucida, for good measure. So hopefully all the bases are covered.
Ah, Verdana. That looks much crisper in Safari on my Mac. I’m gonna use that instead of Trebuchet.
There was a time when I used all kinds of fonts, because they looked nice on my computer… but of course, no one else had them so it looked crappy on theirs. But if you had OS X, nice.
*gets ready to geek out* Lucida is my all time favourite font. If I were smart enough to customise my LJ any more than I already have, I’d use Lucida. So, I think it looks great, Jeff! *ends geek out begins techno dummy phase*
I didn’t even know you had an XML feed!
love the new font. as a weekly reader, i do miss being able to read a previous week’s worth. i did do that, didn’t i? or did i make that up? sometimes i’m not sure…
